Vent — Terms of Service

These are the terms for using Vent ("the App"). They're short on purpose. Please read them before you sign up.
What Vent is
Vent is a private journaling app. You record vents (by voice or text), and an AI weaves them into a daily diary you can read, edit, and keep. We may also generate weekly recaps and monthly chapters from your diaries.
Vent is not therapy. We organize your recordings into narratives. We do not diagnose, monitor, treat, assess, or substitute for professional mental-health care.
Vent is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, please reach out to a real human — a friend, a clinician, or a crisis helpline. Public resources exist worldwide at https://findahelpline.com; in the US you can call or text 988; in the UK / Ireland you can call Samaritans on 116 123.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Vent.
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe. If someone gets access to your account, they get access to your journal.
- You're responsible for the content you put into your vents.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings → "Delete account & data". The deletion is permanent.
What you may do
- Use Vent for personal journaling.
- Export your data and keep a copy.
- Edit, delete, or re-record any vent.
- Edit any AI-generated diary, recap, or chapter.
What you may not do
- Use the App to harass, threaten, or harm others. Vent is for reflecting on your own life.
- Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or attack the App or our infrastructure.
- Use the App to generate content that depicts minors in sexual contexts, instructs on building weapons, or otherwise violates the policies of our AI providers.
- Resell, redistribute, or commercialize the AI-generated content the App produces for you outside the App.
Subscriptions (when applicable)
During beta, Vent is free. Free-tier limits exist so we can keep the AI budget sustainable; they refresh on their own schedule.
Once subscriptions are available:
- Plans, prices, and what's included will be shown clearly in-app before you subscribe.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand through your App Store / Play Store account.
- We don't charge any fees outside the App Store / Play Store billing flow.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google per their own policies.
What we provide
- We provide the App "as is". We do our best to keep it working, but we don't guarantee uptime, accuracy of AI-generated content, or that your data will never be lost (please use Export your data if you want a personal backup).
- AI-generated content reflects the model's interpretation of what you wrote. It can be wrong. Treat the diary as a draft you can edit, not ground truth.
- We may change features, limits, or pricing as the App evolves. We'll surface material changes in the App.
What we don't provide
- Medical, psychological, or legal advice.
- A guarantee that your data is unreachable by every theoretical attacker. We follow the practices in our Privacy Policy, but no system is perfectly secure.
Liability
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to lost data, lost time, or actions you took based on what the App said.
Changes to these terms
If we change anything material here, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and surface a notice the next time you open the app.
