Delete your Vent account
Vent is a journaling app by Telosum Studios. If you no longer want a Vent account, you can remove it in two ways. Both result in the same outcome — your account, your journal entries, your audio recordings, and the AI-written diaries derived from them are deleted.
1. From inside the app (instant)
- Open Vent and sign in.
- Tap your profile icon (top right) → Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Confirm the prompt. Your account and data are deleted immediately — we don't hold a soft-delete grace period.
This is the fastest path and what we recommend whenever it's available to you.
2. By email (if you can't open the app)
- Send a message to support@telosumstudios.com with the subject line “Vent account deletion”.
- Send the email from the address on the account you want deleted, so we can verify ownership without asking for a password.
- We'll process the request within 30 days (almost always sooner) and email you a confirmation when it's done.
If you no longer have access to the original email address, use the form at the bottom of this page and tell us how to verify you.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account is permanently removed from our live databases:
- Your account, email address, and login credentials
- Every journal entry you recorded (voice and text)
- The audio files in object storage
- The AI-generated diary entries, weekly recaps, and chapters
- Mood selections, tags, and any settings tied to your profile
- Embeddings and search indexes derived from your content
What we keep, and why
A small set of records survives a deletion request. We list them here so the policy is honest about its edges:
- Encrypted backups — Vent's database has rolling encrypted backups for disaster recovery, retained for up to 30 days. Backups overwrite themselves on a fixed window; your data is gone from backups within 30 days of deletion. We do not selectively restore deleted accounts from backups.
- Payment and tax records — if you ever subscribed to a paid plan, the underlying transaction records (date, amount, plan name) are retained for as long as tax and accounting laws require (typically seven years in the jurisdictions where we operate). These records do not contain your journal content, only the existence and amount of the payment.
- Abuse-prevention records — if your account was terminated for violating the Terms of Service, we keep a minimal record of that decision (email hash + date + reason code) so the same actor can't simply re-register. This record never contains your journal content.
- Anonymous, aggregated metrics — counts like “number of entries created per day across all users” are not personally identifying and may persist in our analytics. They cannot be linked back to you after deletion.
Outside of those four categories, deletion is final. We cannot recover the content for you later. If you think you may want a copy of your diaries, export them from the app first (Settings → Account → Export my data) and then request deletion.
Still here? Send us your request.
The form below reaches the same people who answer support@telosumstudios.com. You don't need to be signed in to use it.
